Why we make everything in Bordeaux

There is a short answer to this question: because we can check.

When a partner seamstress works in Bordeaux, we can drop by. We can touch the piece before it leaves. We can say something is wrong and fix it without sending an email ten thousand kilometres away.

The size of the series

Our series are small by choice, not by constraint. When you make less, you make better. Each piece is looked at closely, not pulled from a run of five hundred identical units.

It also means being honest about stock. What we cannot deliver, we do not sell. The available sizes are the ones we actually have.

What it costs

Making by hand in France costs more than making it elsewhere. That is a fact. We do not hide it and we do not apologise for it.

That extra cost shows up in the finishing, in the consistency of the seams, in how the fabric holds wash after wash. It also shows up in the ability to visit, to correct, to do better next time.

Bordeaux, not by accident

We were born here, we work here. The region has something to do with what we make: the light, the way people dress between city and coast, the desire for pieces that travel without effort.

Making the boubous here is also a way of rooting them somewhere.
